I want to shoot the city by night: try to capture the intensity of Hong Kong – the lights, the heat, the unique 24-7 vibrancy of the place. I achieve this by taking a tram-ride late one evening. I use a 17mm lens (hand-held), setting White Balance to Shade; this warms things up and enhances golds, reds and yellows. Sitting at the back, upstairs, I lean out of the window (carefully) and shoot another tram passing by.
All processing done in Camera Raw. Minor adjustments to local colour, tone and contrast. In all, less than ten minutes’ work.
