Vice Street

The images here are part of my series, The Fall Of Vice Street; these photographs were all taken late at night from the third floor in the derelict remains of a former ‘house of ill-repute’. Until a year or two ago, Zhapu Lu was notorious: an old, neon-lit street in the Honkgou district, it never slept. And then the decision was taken to “revitalize” the area, clean up the sleaze and turn Zhapu Lu into a desirable, residential district – a stone’s throw from the Bund. Photographed with a 17mm tilt-shift lens and 90mm tilt-shift lens with the White Balance set to Shade.
