A selfie of sorts : a three-image panorama with a Canon 5D2 and 17mm tilt-shift lens. I set the 30-second timer and run like hell to get in position next to friend and fellow artist, Jared. Taken in what remains of Shanghai’s Old City late at night. The reason for this picture? Most of my photographs show the tenuous and increasingly one-sided relationship between Old Shanghai and the Megalopolis of Tomorrow. Jared’s abstract paintings take their inspiration from the same ruins, so a portrait among the remains of the day seems apt.
